A new report shows a positive step forward for the commercial sector, with a large majority expecting an increase in property supply.
After years of challenges, the commercial sector is showing an increasing sense of optimism, according to Q4 2024 data from Propertymark.
The findings show that 83% of commercial property agents expect commercial land and yard supply to increase, a 33% boost from the last report. Furthermore, 53% predict an increase in the industrial sector to supply, compared to just 40% in Q3 2024.
Despite only 45% of respondents expecting no changes to supply in the office sector, nearly 27% do. This is a drop from Q3 2024, where 43% forecasted an increase in supply.

The chief executive at Propertymark, Nathan Emerson, commented: “Although we have seen key aspects of the economy stabilise, the commercial property sector continues to face challenges, as many business sectors evolve to keep pace with ever-progressing trends and shifts in demand.
“It’s positive to see a strong supply and demand within the land and yards sector, and high levels of confidence within the takeaways sector too.
“As many towns and cities embark on substantial regeneration projects, there is huge potential in the medium and long term in delivering prolonged growth across many commercial channels, and as time progresses, we expect to see a substantial keenness from many investors.”
